The sides of the tables are covered with Chinese calligraphy from the “Preface to the Poems Collected from the Orchid Pavilion”, a work by the renowned calligrapher Wang Xizhi from the Easter Jin dynasty. The bottoms of the pedestals are wrapped in a gilded gold flower motif
